History
Tamarac started as a fledgling senior retirement community in the early 1960s, a young millionaire named Ken Behring came from the Midwest and bought up all the land and then started to build. He ran a made a successful chain of car washes called Car-A-Mat. So, he called his new city Tamarac, which is Car-A-Mat spelled backwards.
